Gurten

The Gurten (altitude 860 metres) is Berne’s own “mountain”. The scenic summit can be reached on foot. Or, less strenuously, by the bright red funicular railway (included in the Bern Ticket). From the top you have unparalleled views of the city in one direction and the distant Alps in the other. Ideal for hiking, jogging and mountain biking and (in summer) picnicking and other fun and games for all the family. Attractive restaurant open throughout the year.
